In order to provide information on tourism opportunities in specially protected nature territories in Latvia, the Nature Protection Board has developed a mobile application "Dabas tūrisms " (Nature Tourism), which will significantly make it easier for smartphone and tablet users to find places of interest, such as trails, viewing towers and platforms in nature other tourism services.
The application is available in four languages (Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian and English), which gives the guests of our country the opportunity to freely obtain information about nature tourism in Latvia. It includes information on nature trails, cycling routes, as well as boating and bird and animal watching opportunities, viewpoints, platforms and towers, information centers, as well as parking, public transport, accommodation and catering, etc. services in specially protected nature territories.
With the help of the application, it is possible to get to the selected place- select an object and search. It can be used only in the Internet mode, however, using various (offline) map programs, it is possible to synchronize the programs, which provides an opportunity to get to the selected object without the need to use the Internet. In order to encourage and make it more interesting to travel and relax in nature, the application includes virtual tours and five films about specially protected nature territories and nature diversity in Latvia.
"Specially protected nature territories are a popular tourist destination all over the world, including Latvia. Until now, mainly information about recreational opportunities in Latvian nature and national parks was available only on websites and brochures, but not in the form of a mobile application. However, taking into account the habits of tourists, the Nature Protection Board, by attracting funding, has created a modern tool for gentle and cognitive recreation in nature, ”says Sandra Bērziņa, Director General of the Nature Protection Board.
The application is available free of charge for both iPhone and Android phone users on the App Store and Google Play sites. All you need to use is an internet connection and the Global Positioning System or GPS activated.
