The monument to Rūdolfs Blaumanis is situated at the junction of Dārza iela and Parka iela. Unveiled in 1988. Sculptor - Igors Dobičins.

Rūdolfs Blaumanis is the most distinguished Latvian writer at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 10th century. The humanist, the man with a bright and kind soul, an admirer of righteousness, a supporter of his even poorer friends, careful and considerate educator of young writers, the hater of bureaucracy, place-hunting, and charism politics. Rūdolfs Blaumanis formed himself as a writer deliberately and purposefully.

The time when R. Blaumanis created his works, was pervaded by the ideas of national awakening. The ideas of national self-confidence, self-actualization, national romanticism, and realism dominated in literature. During his lifetime, R. Blaumanis wrote about 50 short stories among which some are especially bright and are still considered the values of Latvian literature.

His most brilliant short stories are "In the shadow of death", "Raudupiete", "The swamp wader", "Andriksons". Rūdolfs Blaumanis with the fairy-tale for children "Little devils" is the author of the first Latvian literary fairy-tale.

Kārlis Skalbe has said: "Blaumanis has given his characters the entirety of all national soul. He shows them in strong passions or captivating purity of a soul as in "Indrāni" or "On Saturday eve". Rūdolfs Blaumanis loved people. He suffered and lived together with his literary characters. He did not have either bad or good people, he had only people.

What unites Rūdolfs Blaumanis and Sigulda?

The writer's godson, also Rūdolfs Blaumanis in the time span from 1920 until 1940 worked as a teacher in Sigulda grammar school. But about the location of the writer's monument - at first, the street of Rūdolfs Blaumanis got its name, and at the end of the street, the monument later was erected.
