Making walking sticks in Sigulda vicinity has more than 200 years old history. Already in the 19th century, the guidebooks say that "a walking stick can be bought from a boy for a walk along Sigulda's ravines." Initially, the sticks were made quite simple - one end of a straight stick of hazelnut tree or buckthorn was barked and curved - for the handle. The rest of the stick was left unbarked.
At the beginning of the 20th century, when Sigulda evolved into a boarding house and summerhouse centre and walks along the so-called Alpine trails built by the owner of Sigulda manor prince Kropotkins, the production and sale of walking sticks became an important source of profit for local farmers.
Offers for groups and individual visitors: to buy walking sticks of various sizes as well as order sticks with specially burned in names.
